Chicken Guy Impresses in Disney Springs

We recently popped in to Chicken Guy by Guy Fieri in Disney Springs to see what all of the hype is about and to sample some of the most popular items on their menu, including – yes – their 22 dipping sauces, but more on those later.

First, let’s talk about the funky, industrial atmosphere. With spray painted murals on several walls, exposed brick and ductwork, and an eclectic mix of finishes, the space is pretty much exactly what you would expect from Fieri, who is known for his own eccentric style. While we found both indoor and outdoor seating options, it can be a little difficult to snag an open table, which on one hand speaks to the popularity – and the quality – of the restaurant. The lack of tables is about the last negative thing we can say about CG, because the rest of our experience was nearly flawless.

Chicken is obviously the name of the game at Chicken Guy, and in particular, they specialize in chicken tenders, but, also not just any, run of the mill tenders. No, these tenders are fresh (never frozen), and hand pounded and breaded daily, and the breading, might I add, is phenomenal. Having visited with my husband, we both agreed, these were some of the most flavorful chicken tenders we’ve had, seasoned perfectly and juicy. While we’re on the subject of seasoning, the signature seasoned fries hold their own, as well. In fact, the next time I am strolling through Disney Springs and need a snack, Chicken Guy’s fries will definitely be on my radar.

Now, for what you all really care about: the sauces. Twenty-two sauces in all, there is something for everyone, and I found several somethings for me. Admittedly, I didn’t try every single sauce, but I probably tried at least half of them, and some of my clear frontrunners were the Garlic Parmesan, Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ, Teriyaki, and the Nashville Hot Honey, numbers 15, 8, 14, and 18 on the menu, respectively.

Not to brag, but I even conquered the Habanero Hot Sauce, and I was quite proud. It’s the little things in life, you know?

So the Chicken Guy staples passed the test, but now it was time to get fancy and try out those tenders all dressed up (the tenders, that is; we didn’t change outfits). We tried the Mexican Street Corn Salad Bowl, the Loaded Mac Daddy Mac & Cheese, and Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ Sandwich. All of these offered up a little something different for the palate, from the lighter, cooler Corn Salad, to the sweet- and heartiness of the Bourbon BBQ sandwich, all dishes had one thing in common: chicken tenders. I should point out, that you do have the option to get those tenders either fried or grilled, and, having had an extensive conversation with the manager, we also found out that they are rather fantastic with food allergies, and will try to accommodate most allergies, if they can. As an allergy mom, I was especially pleased to hear this.

My personal highlight of the meal, however, was the Loaded Mac Daddy Mac & Cheese. Creamy mac and cheese, topped with sliced chicken tenders, bacon, and scallions, this one packed a lot of flavor per bite, and is also the reason I am already eyeing my planner to see when I can next return.

Rounding off the experience was dessert, which in our case meant their Triple Douple Mint handspan milkshake. Minty and smooth, and topped with two little mint patties (and yes, they look like Mickey Ears, so bonus points!), it’s a great way to end your meal.

Chicken Guy exceeded our expectations on flavor and value, especially compared to many other pricey options in Disney Springs. Open from 11-11 on weekdays, and 11-12 on Fridays and Saturdays, pop over and check them out and let us know what you think!
